The American Sycamore is a fast growing massive shade tree with ornamental exfoliating bark. Broad and rounded when mature. Provides dense shade. Medium green leaf colour that turns yellow-brown in the fall. A good lawn, urban or shade tree.
When choosing a location, keep in mind that the American Sycamore has a fast growth rate. It grows up to 100 feet in height and 90 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 4 to 9. Prefers full sun and moist, deep, rich soil. Will tolerate wet and compacted soil.
